[Her eyes flash briefly before returning to normal, her grip on her book tightening. She could send him away easily enough if she wanted to. Get him the hell away from her before she tore him apart.]

Take your curiosity somewhere else. It's none of your business what goes on or doesn't between myself and Ronny. Nor my sister's play toy.

It's the end of our senior year. Whatever your problem with whoever is, you shouldn't let Ronny suffer. I've seen him glance at you whenever he thinks no one's paying attention and every time he does it's like he's looking at someone who was once his best friend and he would like nothing more than to talk to again.

[He's shrugging, letting his shoulders give a bit of a crack as his shoulders roll into it]

So with one of my best friends reacting like that to someone, it kind of is my business.

[And his being bored with the book he grabbed, he'll send it flying right back to its spot with maybe a bit more force than needed, his eyes staying that intense blue for just a moment or two longer.]

If Ronny wanted to talk, Frederick, then he'd open his mouth and do so. I have never stopped him from talking to me. So don't you sit there and talk about how he'd like nothing more than to talk again.

[Her own eyes flash with her annoyance and she clenches the book a bit too tight, the front and back of the book biting into the palm of her hands.]

You're not putting this all on me. Besides, he's better off without me anyway.

[It's not entirely true or what she thinks but if she can convince herself that, then it won't hurt so much.]

You realize there's an actual hierarchy at this school, right?

[And another eye flash as he opens his bag, pulling out his notebook and opening to a blank page and grabbing a pencil so he could write some names. Him, Danny, Ronny, and Alice on one side with some titles, Ronny getting nerd', himself and Danny getting 'weirdo' and Alice getting 'new girl', some miscellaneous names in the middle, and then Jay, Gwynne, and Red on the other side. "Bodyguard, second in command, queen" being written under each, respectively.

From there, he turned the book around for her to see]

All these people in the middle to someone like me is nothing. I can guarantee you three of them are glaring at me like I'm going to try and overthrow you. But the names right here and titles. [Circling his end of the hierarchy] Ronny knows it's true. He's too nice to call us by them, but he thinks he's the bottom of the barrel and that by talking to you he would be nothing but a nuisance. If you're still not getting that he's got issues of his own that he won't listen to any of us about needing to confront, fine. I'm going to an empty table to sleep the rest of study hall away.

[She clenches her jaw when he decides to go writing stuff down. Red wasn't in the mood to deal with Frederick. She'd been happy about the fact that she was alone. Frederick showing up kind of ruined her mood.]

I don't think they'd care if you overthrew me.

[She bites her inner jaw until she tastes blood.]

He has never been at the bottom of the barrel. And I've known for a long time that he's had issues. He's had issues since the family split into two factions.

Self identity is one of the most important things in school and the one thing Ronny has always been terrible at. I love the boy, as does Alice and Danny, but he has no idea who he is in the world and he tries to please everyone. So if someone seems to be either going somewhere he's not sure he's comfortable

[New level of popularity]

Or doesn't seem to need or want him around - and it's easy for him to think that - he will avoid that person like the plague until confronted. Two weeks freshman year I didn't see him. He was out sick the first week, but when he came back to school, he avoided me because I gave a heavy sigh that seemed annoyed.

If you seriously don't get that, even with whatever history you've got with him, either you've changed too much, or give him the credit he deserves but would never take.

[This boy's gonna take psychology courses in college.]

Do NOT bring Alice up in anything that we talk about, Frederick. Her name doesn't get to be mentioned anywhere near Ronny's. For any reason.

[She shakes her head and slams her book shut, shoving it into her bag despite rather wanting the pain.]

I used to go to him all the time. Each and every time I was stopped. Either by the bitch or by the one person who used to take care of us. So it's not that I don't care. I care more for Ronny than I do for anyone in this damn school. Just because you boys don't see it doesn't make it not true.

[Red cards fingers through her hair.]

It's you that doesn't get it, Frederick. You never will get it. How could you?

Once upon a time there was a dormouse and a lizard. The two were best friends before the queen ordered the lizard to stay by her side. Because of differences with the dormouse and the queen, the lizard was forced into a position where he was unable to spend any time with the dormouse.

[There's a pause as he lets that settle in before starting another story.]

Once upon a time, there was a hare and a queen. The queens elder sister was best friends with the hatter of the town. When the queen began to grow jealous of her sister, her behavior had changed. She took a darker tone to her behavior. She seeked popularity and a life separate from what her sister had lived for herself. The hare being very unsure of himself had felt that the new way the queen was going about things, she wouldn't want him around. The hare hadn't properly thought things true, but acted on what he felt was best. He had made friends with a tricky little cat that had some form of issues with everyone, but still remained loyal.

The queen, meanwhile, had created allies with a lizard and another, lesser, queen. After overthrowing the kingdom that her sister had created, the queen began a life that was untouchable by most. Creating the way things would go for the rest of the subjects. While the queen was going about her day to day like that, the hare had met not only the cat, but a dormouse and a newcomer. The newcomer had a very curious way of looking at people, preferring no romantic company, but purely platonic. Her behavior and closeness to all three boys had been misconstrued by many in the kingdom.

I hope I've got both of those stories right. I mean, I know one's a bit shorter, but they're companion pieces.

[Considering he's part of the first one. And he'll raise an eyebrow as he gets a text from Ronny, uncannily enough, and he'll show it to Red]

You might wanna confront the lesser queen.

You're wrong, you know. On the first story at the very least. His position didn't force a damn thing. Nor did I make him choose who he was friends with. And before you say anything Jay knows it too. I didn't choose anything for him. Yes, he stays by my side but I didn't care that he was friends with you.

[She clenches her jaw at that second story though.]

Guess what? The hare was wrong and he knew he was wrong. The queen tried to go to him but was stopped by her older sister or her second in command. Then the new girl showed up and decided to step on toes she had no right stepping on. Became friends with people that the queen considered hers.

[That jaw clenches more when he shows her the text.]

If I confront her, Frederick, I'll rip out her fucking throat. There will be no lesser queen anymore. There will be a spot open that can't be filled. So maybe the dormouse should get off his ass and confront the lizard.

[Then again the group might lose someone else too and she wouldn't give a damn if the boys hated her. Much less over Alice.]

He sees how other people see you just as well as how you see other people. You want someone going with you? I'll make sure you get to Ronny to talk to him. Lilian probably wasn't sure what you were planning to do and wasn't sure how to take you. You're kind of manipulative. Just saying.

Especially since, y'know. Manipulation is your specialty.

[gesturing to her eyes and there's no way he can deny he knows that's her ability]

I'll buy front row tickets for three and cover Ronnys eyes. Also, we never asked you to accept her as part of your group. She's not part of your inner circle of friends, however you consider them, accept that me, Danny, and Ronny care about her. She's a sister to all three of us more than anything else.

Lilian knew exactly what I was planning. You know... none of this would've happened if not for her. Everyone knows that, Frederick. Everyone knows it.

[She closes her eyes and shakes her head.]

I can't accept that you three care about her or see her as family. Not yet.

[Maybe not ever.]

And that's why you're frustrating. Your inability to accept change. Don't look at her as part of your group. If we brought Sarah or Jeremy to hang out, would you freak out as much? If one of Danny's siblings decided to hang out?

[HOW DID THEY GET SO FAR AWAY FROM TALKING TO RONNY?]

But if you wanted, I could provide guard so you can talk to Ronny. Rebecca's been trying to figure out a way for it to happen and recently talked to Lilian about it, even.

Danny's siblings are family.

[It was really that simple to her, really. Would always be that simple to her. And she could accept change but not when it was slammed into her like a bulldozer.]

I'd like that, Frederick. And I'm surprised that Lilian's having anything to do with it.

She knows that Ronny's important to you. She wants nothing more than to see that friendship mended between you two.

Funny how that works seeing how she's the reason we got separated to begin with.

Lilian wanted you to live your own life and be happy. She paid attention to the school as a whole and you fit more as the Red Queen of the story.

[There's a shrug]

I mean, if you don't get it from her point of view, or anyone elses, I'm gonna go to an empty table.

[He'll move to get up]

You can move to whatever table you want, Frederick. However, if my sister really had wanted me to be happy then she'd of never caused a rift between me and someone that I loved with everything that I was.

[There's a brief pause]

That I am. And if anyone was the one to pay attention, it was Rebecca. Not Lilian.

From my understanding, she never caused the rift. More just... A misinterpretation of what was going on.

[From who, he's not going to say but he's heavily implying that gurl u saw things wrong as he moves to get up and move tables.

Once at a free table, he'll be putting his head down and going into a light sleep, easily woken up if needed]

You obviously don't have your story straight.

[He really didn't have his story straight, that much was obvious. Besides, what did Frederick know? Especially where her damn sister was concerned. As for going over to wake him, no. She'd let him sleep. Otherwise, she'd just get royally annoyed with him and what he thought he knew.]

[There's a mumbled response that could easily be sarcastic]

Maybe she's been under some spell.

[She ignores the sarcasm because it's simply him.]

What kind of spell?

[Tired shrug and as he yawns]

Personality flip or manipulation or whatever. The chances of that actually being the case are slim to none.

[Since high school. No information on that shit at all.]

To be honest... there's no telling with Lilian. I just know she changed.

[They both did.]

It's called the mysteries of growing- [Big yawn] up...

[He's glancing at the time figuring he may as well TRY to stay awake now since the period shall be over before he gets the chance to properly nap]

It's not the mysteries of anything. Just someone deciding that Lily needed to be a bitch.
