[It was the last week of school. One of the last study halls they would share together and Frederick was tired. Not only of the general school stuff but of Red and how she treated - or didn't treat - Ronny.

So, he shuffled his way into the library, boredly looking around for the Queen B and whether or not she had her fellow Queen and that lovely little lizard with her. He was pretty sure he saw Jay in the gym. Alas, her table was unusually empty, so he stretched his arms out as his eyes glowed, pulling a seat out for himself as he plopped down once he got close enough, leaning back a bit]

Any specific reason you're choosing to sit alone?

[There was a yawn from the dormouse as though he had just woken up from a nap.

[For once Red had decided to sit alone. Jay was off doing the gym thing and who knows what else. Gwynne was, well, she honestly didn't care where she was at in that moment. She had time to herself so that she could study and get a few things done. What she doesn't expect is Frederick just to plop himself down across from her.

Raising a brow, she shakes her head and goes back to her book.]

What's it to you if I sit alone or not, Frederick?

Because not even Alice is stressing out over anything right now. Also, I was just curious.

[He's scanning the bookshelf behind her, holding one hand out as his eyes flashed again, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn flying from the shelf to his hand. The chances of him reading much were unlikely, but it was a way to keep him awake enough]

So why is it so rare to see you and Ronny in the same room? Blood that bad between you and his sister? I mean I've seen you when you catch him in the halls on his way to class or something. There's some history between you and I've gotta say - [Yawwwwwwn] I'm curious.

[Her eyes flash briefly before returning to normal, her grip on her book tightening. She could send him away easily enough if she wanted to. Get him the hell away from her before she tore him apart.]

Take your curiosity somewhere else. It's none of your business what goes on or doesn't between myself and Ronny. Nor my sister's play toy.

It's the end of our senior year. Whatever your problem with whoever is, you shouldn't let Ronny suffer. I've seen him glance at you whenever he thinks no one's paying attention and every time he does it's like he's looking at someone who was once his best friend and he would like nothing more than to talk to again.

[He's shrugging, letting his shoulders give a bit of a crack as his shoulders roll into it]

So with one of my best friends reacting like that to someone, it kind of is my business.

[And his being bored with the book he grabbed, he'll send it flying right back to its spot with maybe a bit more force than needed, his eyes staying that intense blue for just a moment or two longer.]

If Ronny wanted to talk, Frederick, then he'd open his mouth and do so. I have never stopped him from talking to me. So don't you sit there and talk about how he'd like nothing more than to talk again.

[Her own eyes flash with her annoyance and she clenches the book a bit too tight, the front and back of the book biting into the palm of her hands.]

You're not putting this all on me. Besides, he's better off without me anyway.

[It's not entirely true or what she thinks but if she can convince herself that, then it won't hurt so much.]

You realize there's an actual hierarchy at this school, right?

[And another eye flash as he opens his bag, pulling out his notebook and opening to a blank page and grabbing a pencil so he could write some names. Him, Danny, Ronny, and Alice on one side with some titles, Ronny getting nerd', himself and Danny getting 'weirdo' and Alice getting 'new girl', some miscellaneous names in the middle, and then Jay, Gwynne, and Red on the other side. "Bodyguard, second in command, queen" being written under each, respectively.

From there, he turned the book around for her to see]

All these people in the middle to someone like me is nothing. I can guarantee you three of them are glaring at me like I'm going to try and overthrow you. But the names right here and titles. [Circling his end of the hierarchy] Ronny knows it's true. He's too nice to call us by them, but he thinks he's the bottom of the barrel and that by talking to you he would be nothing but a nuisance. If you're still not getting that he's got issues of his own that he won't listen to any of us about needing to confront, fine. I'm going to an empty table to sleep the rest of study hall away.

[She clenches her jaw when he decides to go writing stuff down. Red wasn't in the mood to deal with Frederick. She'd been happy about the fact that she was alone. Frederick showing up kind of ruined her mood.]

I don't think they'd care if you overthrew me.

[She bites her inner jaw until she tastes blood.]

He has never been at the bottom of the barrel. And I've known for a long time that he's had issues. He's had issues since the family split into two factions.

Self identity is one of the most important things in school and the one thing Ronny has always been terrible at. I love the boy, as does Alice and Danny, but he has no idea who he is in the world and he tries to please everyone. So if someone seems to be either going somewhere he's not sure he's comfortable

[New level of popularity]

Or doesn't seem to need or want him around - and it's easy for him to think that - he will avoid that person like the plague until confronted. Two weeks freshman year I didn't see him. He was out sick the first week, but when he came back to school, he avoided me because I gave a heavy sigh that seemed annoyed.

If you seriously don't get that, even with whatever history you've got with him, either you've changed too much, or give him the credit he deserves but would never take.

[This boy's gonna take psychology courses in college.]

Do NOT bring Alice up in anything that we talk about, Frederick. Her name doesn't get to be mentioned anywhere near Ronny's. For any reason.

[She shakes her head and slams her book shut, shoving it into her bag despite rather wanting the pain.]

I used to go to him all the time. Each and every time I was stopped. Either by the bitch or by the one person who used to take care of us. So it's not that I don't care. I care more for Ronny than I do for anyone in this damn school. Just because you boys don't see it doesn't make it not true.

[Red cards fingers through her hair.]

It's you that doesn't get it, Frederick. You never will get it. How could you?

Once upon a time there was a dormouse and a lizard. The two were best friends before the queen ordered the lizard to stay by her side. Because of differences with the dormouse and the queen, the lizard was forced into a position where he was unable to spend any time with the dormouse.

[There's a pause as he lets that settle in before starting another story.]

Once upon a time, there was a hare and a queen. The queens elder sister was best friends with the hatter of the town. When the queen began to grow jealous of her sister, her behavior had changed. She took a darker tone to her behavior. She seeked popularity and a life separate from what her sister had lived for herself. The hare being very unsure of himself had felt that the new way the queen was going about things, she wouldn't want him around. The hare hadn't properly thought things true, but acted on what he felt was best. He had made friends with a tricky little cat that had some form of issues with everyone, but still remained loyal.

The queen, meanwhile, had created allies with a lizard and another, lesser, queen. After overthrowing the kingdom that her sister had created, the queen began a life that was untouchable by most. Creating the way things would go for the rest of the subjects. While the queen was going about her day to day like that, the hare had met not only the cat, but a dormouse and a newcomer. The newcomer had a very curious way of looking at people, preferring no romantic company, but purely platonic. Her behavior and closeness to all three boys had been misconstrued by many in the kingdom.

I hope I've got both of those stories right. I mean, I know one's a bit shorter, but they're companion pieces.

[Considering he's part of the first one. And he'll raise an eyebrow as he gets a text from Ronny, uncannily enough, and he'll show it to Red]

You might wanna confront the lesser queen.

You're wrong, you know. On the first story at the very least. His position didn't force a damn thing. Nor did I make him choose who he was friends with. And before you say anything Jay knows it too. I didn't choose anything for him. Yes, he stays by my side but I didn't care that he was friends with you.

[She clenches her jaw at that second story though.]

Guess what? The hare was wrong and he knew he was wrong. The queen tried to go to him but was stopped by her older sister or her second in command. Then the new girl showed up and decided to step on toes she had no right stepping on. Became friends with people that the queen considered hers.

[That jaw clenches more when he shows her the text.]

If I confront her, Frederick, I'll rip out her fucking throat. There will be no lesser queen anymore. There will be a spot open that can't be filled. So maybe the dormouse should get off his ass and confront the lizard.

[Then again the group might lose someone else too and she wouldn't give a damn if the boys hated her. Much less over Alice.]

[So someone's not paying enough attention to where he's going as he's looking at his spring schedule and looking between it and the buildings as he hurries across the college grounds, not taking enough care of his speed or where he was going.

So come his crashing into someone, there's a surprised gasp as he quickly backs up and tenses up, eyes wide and going to that bright light blue as he subconsciously sets up a semi-solid shield around him for the moment]

Sorry! I'm so sorry I wasn't watching where I was going, any damage to your books I can help pay for, I promise!

[And he was aiming to help to get the books and anything dropped up before he properly realized who he bumped into being Red, his eyes still bright, but he reigned the shield in, actively aware he was doing it. He didn't know if anyone else had seen it. Nevermind he was dealing with a bruised right upper arm at the moment.

[When she's run into there's a bit of a grunt out of her because oh my god... Though it wasn't really the first time she'd been run into by some stranger. Except that this wasn't really a stranger. That much was obvious the moment she heard his voice, saw that shield form around him.]

Hey, it's not a big deal. They're just books.

[Once that shield is dropped she bends down to help pick up the rest of her books. However, there was something that she'd noticed.]

What's wrong with your arm, Ronny?

[He visibly tenses a bit as he stammers a bit, trying to think of an excuse that might work. He knew that Gwynne was on campus and he didn't exactly want to cause any issues between friends.]

O-on my way home yesterday, I slammed my arm against the wall. L-lost my balance and was going too fast, is all.

[There was no eye contact. Ronny was, and always would be, a terrible liar. Especially to people he cared about.]

[She notices him tense up and resists the urge to ball up her fists. Especially when that lie came out of his mouth. Red straightens herself up and watches him.]

Don't do that. Don't you lie to me. Who did it?

[Heeeeeeeeeeesitates as he shifts from foot to foot a bit]

It was my fault, honestly. Gwynne's been under a lot of stress and wanted me to go out and get some groceries and I forgot a few things. She pushed me into the wall, but it's nothing, really. I promise.

[Because it's definitely not her being a psycho bitch. Nope.]

[Sorry, Ronny, but she's not going to take that for an answer. The moment he said that Gwynne had done it those eyes of hers flash green.]

Then I'm going to find the bitch and have a word with her.

[That's not something that can be stopped either, unfortunately.]

[Well she won't have to wait too much longer because the girl in question will be coming up now from behind, sliding one hand into the March Hares back pocket as a possessive gesture, holding him close to her side as he smiled to Red, Ronny having a sudden feeling that none of this will end well.

Granted, in the distance there was a hiss followed by a squeak of a dormouse waking up from his spot before drifting off again, but the blue eyed kitten was still very curious.]

Hey there, Red. Sorry for my klutzy little bunny here

[She gave a little giggle as she moved to kiss Ronny's cheek, the boy still unsure of how to react to anything going on at all right now. This was challenging. To say the least.]

[Red's eyes narrow and flash green even as she watches Gwynne. Watches just how possessive that stupid bitch thought she was being. If she thought that sticking close to Ronny was going to get her out of this then she was sorely mistaken.]

You're going to step away from Ronny and step away from him now, Gwynne.

[Even as she says it she circles around them until she's behind them. From there she grabs a handful of Gwynne's hair and jerks the girl's head back pretty damn hard. It was time she dealt with the bitch once and for all. You didn't hurt someone that she cared about.]

[Welp Ronny definitely knew this was going to be a bad time if he stuck around too much longer and let out a squeak as Gwynne was about to argue and yelped as she was yanked backward.

The girl growled, pulling her hand from Ronnys pocket as she balled her fists, pulling out a small deck of playing cards.]

You really wanna start this? If it's not me he's dating he could've wound up dating that bitch Alice.

[Ronny's not even going to touch that topic and just briefly judge before running to get Jay. Help at least stopping the fight would be needed.]
