[ Conan, meanwhile is still in pursuit of thief but it doesn't take him long to catch up, skidding once more to a stop and effectively cutting off all exits. He's breathing a little heavily but he's nowhere ready to give in. He's about to demand that thief return what he's stolen but he's not the one that gets to speak first. ]
Eh?
[ His attention is caught and he makes the mistake of looking over to see where the voice had come from. It unfortunately it allows the purse snatcher time to retaliate. When faced with an adult or a child as an obstacle obviously the man would go for the child. Conan hears the footsteps coming towards him and has just enough time to turn and see what's happening before he feels himself being yanked up by the middle. ]
[ This guy's not planning on using him as a hostage is he? ]
'Don't come any closer!
[ Of course he is. Conan just lets out a long suffering sigh. How best to get out of this situation? ]

It's one thing stealing a purse made of poor quality with likely nothing worth value inside, but using a child as a method of assuring you get to keep it is just pitiful.
[Someone sounds bored and unattached]
If you've not even looked inside of that purse yet, you might find it filled with essentially trash and knick knacks that hold no value. Your best course of action would be to release the child, drop the bag, and leave.
[Not that leaving would entirely be a good thing if he'd right about the potential for who was at the end of the alley.]

[ As if confused by the suggestion about leaving his prize the thief-now kidnapper starts to say something but the brief distraction is all Conan needs. It's a bit of a waste to use resources against this class of criminal but he flips the lid of his watch up and twists it so it'll fire behind him rather than in front. The anaesthetic needle hits its mark easily enough and the kidnapper sways heavily before falling completely forward-dead asleep. ]
[ Conan manages to twist himself free and gives his now unconscious would-be-kidinapper a very unimpressed look as he brushes himself off. ]
Can you call the police?
[ He returns innocent seven year olf mode. ]

[A beat]
With minimal assistance. [Another before he makes a face and just shrugs] ... Maybe.

[ He asked innocently though though there is definitely a bit of nervousness in his voice. Perhaps he should have been more careful about using the wrist watch. If Sherlock is watching him closely enough he'll notice a few bead of sweat forming and a definite tension in the way the boy is holding his shoulders. The statement has made him very uncomfortable. ]
I think he just fell asleep.
[ He tries to get away with a lie. He'll cling to the act until the his is against the wall with no possible way out without admitting the truth. ]

[There's even a pout to go with it]
You're tense. You know that whatever front you're trying to put up is pointless with me, and while I'm not sure what exactly that is [A gesture to his watch] I know that it's what helped you knock the man unconscious. Really. If you want to know anything about the area, know that I'm the last man you will ever fool with any sort of childish behavior.
Though, to be perfectly fair to you, you're not dressed as though you're from the area, let alone time, however that would work.
[Because there's something to your credit for not knowing him!!!
You could at least call him Iron Man]no subject
[ Something about this man was familiar. Conan can feel his own heart beating faster as his disguise is torn down little by little. It's not often someone questions anything about him. They leave him to his own devices for the most part and it's likely because they have no idea how to handle him. Which is fine as he generally doesn't know how to handle them either. ]
[ It's the way he speaks that gives it away. The fact he mentioned Lestrade and now that he seems honestly a little insulted someone is trying to trick him. ]
[ The increased heart rate starts anew and this time it's not from discomfort. ]
[ Sherlock Holmes ]
N-No. I-Don't know how it happened but I'm actually from 2016.
[ Unless, of course, he's dead. ]

[Mannerisms have changed from attempting to uncomfortably hide behind some average kid facade, this was definitely new, and while his being from 2016 was strange, it could be believable. He rose an eyebrow, though]
I'm going to take a guess and say you've figure out who I am?
[Guess. Right. He'll take another puff of that pipe of his]
no subject
You don't guess. It's a shocking habit-destructive to the logical faculties.
[ He supplies somewhat cheerfully. He could just admit outright that he knew or refer to the man by name but what's the fun in that? ]
no subject
Very good.
[He knows he's caught on, now, though. That much is obvious. The way he seemed to change his attitude, even if slightly to Conan was big enough to Sherlock.]
At least introductions on my end aren't necessary. But you are...?
no subject
No.
[ If he's dreaming than it wasn't like it really mattered anyway. ]
Kudou Shinichi-detective. It's an honour to meet you.
no subject
[Because if this is some medical thing he doesn't know about he wouldn't be surprised. You seem smart for a child sized person]
no subject
[ He doesn't miss a beat. And why should he? It is, after all, his real age. But he knows exactly what comes next-usually disbelief followed by questions about his...condition. ]
My [ 'pathetic' ] appearance is the result of an untested poison.
no subject
[He can roll with that, for now. Could make sense.]
Whoever wanted you dead clearly should have properly tested it. Especially seeing as they only to give you the body of a child. If the mishap had managed to alter how your mind functioned as well, that would be a much more impressive feat.
[And there's a shrug]
no subject
Their hands were tied. There'd been a murder earlier that day and the police were still around.
Due to that though, I now go by the name Edogawa Conan. If they found out the truth... [ He lets the silence speak for itself. ]
no subject
[He crinkled his nose thinking about that more. Time travel. That was a hard concept to properly wrap his head around, but it was easier to just roll with it than anything.]
no subject
[ Just in case, what? ]
Kudou is fine, so long as no one else is around.
[ Jeez. Has really gotten this bad? This is more than likely a dream and he's not even the right time period for them to make an appearance. ]
no subject
[Because fairly simple and he doesn't need the explanation of that's the other choice of name.]
Do you have any theories as to how you landed here as opposed to your own timeline?
[He was curious, after all]
no subject
Not really. Time travel is still only regarded as Science-fiction where I'm from. The only way it would be possible would be through a dream or particularly good book.
Other than that, I just sort of found myself here and that guy-[ He gestures to the unconscious purse snatcher ] Stole that lady's purse so I gave chase.
